Stripe happy

I've always been a solids kinda gal, but this summer I am really digging the stripes and prints!  I mean I was solids for a good 30 years...this is all very new to me.  Now that I'm losing weight, I've been doing some window shopping and found some motivational dresses.  Not that I can afford them, but I will dream about them!

All of these are from Nordstrom.
All of these I want!
Maybe I should save my nickels.  By the time I have enough to buy one of these I will have the body to wear it!
Sometimes I can't get over my brilliance.

Gosh do I love my..

NOOK!
Quite some time ago now, I used to read like there was no tomorrow, 2, 3 books at a time.   All my days off were spent at Borders and I hardly ever left without buying another book.  Now I have bookcases and bookcases and stacks and piles of books that I can't seem to get rid of, we've grown attached.  My husband thinks books just sit around gathering dust, he doesn't get it.  Well, the good man got me a Nook for Christmas!  I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove it!

All of a sudden I've been reading again.  I don't know why?  Because I have a fancy new toy?  None of those pesky pages to turn anymore?  Who knows but I've been a readin!  Here's what I read so far:

- The first book I got, because it was only a dollar and change was Where Angels Go by Debbie Macomber.  I read this really fast.  It was a light hearted feel good read, I enjoyed it.

- The second was Sharper Your Knife, The Less You Cry by Kathleen Flinn.  If you loved Eat, Pray, Love, as I did, you will love this book too.  It's a memoir style book about a woman who is layed off her job and decides to move to Paris and go to Le Cordon Bleu, and all her cooking adventures in school.  I hated for this one to end.  Bonus--there are recipes at the end of every chapter!

-Next was How to Bake a Perfect Life by Barbara O'Neal.  Kind of funny to go from the previous one to this one, because it is also food oriented and also includes recipes at the end of every chapter.  I really enjoyed this book very much.

- Currently reading: House Rules by Jodi Picoult.  I'm only on page 52 but already sucked in.

- Waiting to be read: Water for Elephants, One Second After, and The Omnivore's Dilemma. And must not buy anymore books until these are finished.  The thing is, it's so handy to buy a book!  And usually if anyone at all recommends a book, I instantly either write it down to buy or make a mental note and pick it up the next time I'm at the store.  Now with the nook, I just have to hit the shop button, buy, voila!  Less than 2 minutes and the book is downloaded right to my very hands.

Enough about that, here's what I really want to talk about.  I've been rather forgetful the past couple weeks.  I started this post with intent on writing about something else entirely and now I've gotten to the point where I was going to do that and now of course can't remember what in the world that was.  Sigh.

Fabulous post coming soon.  As soon as I remember what it was.

Slightly Askew

That was me today - for some reason, I kept veering to the right, walking, driving, everything slightly askew. I must need some V8. Does that have sugar?

Thank goodness I started this cleanse on the 1st, otherwise I'd have no idea what day I'm on! So there it is, Twenty Ten day Ocho!

I'm happy to report, no cravings AT ALL! Also gone, the Fatter Fatter another Cheeseburger won't Matter attitude. Haha, homegirl is getting healthy! Today I even looked at a few food blogs, great looking food, didn't even salivate. While before? I would totally drool over all the yummy looking food. (Drooling? That's so last year.)

I haven't lost any weight in the past couple days since braving the scale, but have come across some fabulous new finds, inspiring me even more to lose weight, because of all these delicious clothing websites out there! I am picking what I want to wear when I'm skinny again.

Here's an example or three.

#1 - from Anthropologie:

For when my shoulders and arms are all buff and toned.

#2 from Shabby Apple: This one's my favorite!

And the red shoes!! I am in love. le sigh.

#3 from Stop Staring:
Well I can't seem to put the picture up but if you want to see a nice eggplant 40's glamour lula dress check out this link.

We all know I'm a Target shopper, so usually my clothes cost $30-$40 roughly. These dresses are a bit more than I typically spend, but well worth it, once I'm fit. A nice swanky night on the town with my motorcycle man, Oohlala tres bien!

See how worldly this cleanse has made me?

Next week I am both applying to grad school and finishing up my last semester in the land of the undergrad, let's see how my energy holds up.

I LOVE Frango Mints!!!

Before this week, I didn't know what a frango mint was. I was deprived.

But now I am enlightened and oh how glorious the world is, with the frango mints in it. I am also wickedly exhausted, having been going going going for I lost track of how many days in a row. That being said, I am short on words, but please enjoy this recipe!

Frango Mint Chip Cookies
Recipe adapted from cooks.com

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup grated Marshall Field's Frango Mints
2 1/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup chopped nuts
12 Frango Mints, halved

Cream butter, shortening and sugars until light. Add eggs, vanilla, and grated Frango Mints. Beat until creamy and well blended. Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together, add to the beaten egg mixture, blending carefully. Fold in chopped nuts. Use a melon baller to scoop dough, and place half a Frango mint into the middle of each ball. Place 1 inch apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 8-11 minutes. Remove cookies from cookie sheets and allow to cool on rack.
